Death of Aged Resident

Mrs. Barbara Burkhardt, an Old German Resident, Died at Her Home Saturday

Mrs. Barbara Burkhardt was born in Baden, Germany, April 15, 1845; died at her home near this city Saturday, July 6, 1918, aged 73 years, 2 months and 21 days.

Mrs. Burkhardt was a Miss Barbara Bickle and was married to Jacob Burkhardt in the year, 1866. To this union were born 11 children, five having preceded their parents to a better world. Those living are Barbara Felty, Jacob Burkhardt, Kate Sefried, Rose Maurer, Susie Maurer and John Burkhardt. Besides the children, she leaves 31 grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Grandma Burkhardt had been in poor health for several months and for the past few weeks had been entirely helpless. Since the death of her husband she had been making her home with her children. Her husband passed away about six years ago.

Funeral services were held at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John Maurer, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. E. Snyder. Interment at Reip cemetery.
