Everett Gillihan Succumbs Sunday
Everett Gillihan, a lifelong resident of White County, died Sunday morning at 7:25 at the Alta Wise home, 602 West Main Street, Carmi, where he had been receiving care for the last few years. He was 82 years old and farmed on Route One, Carmi for many years until failing health forced his retirement.
He was born May 19, 1878 in this county, the son of John and Nancy Jones Gillihan. He was married to Mary Ann (Molly) Maurer many years ago and she departed this life June 21, 1955.
A son, Jake Gillihan of Carmi, Route Three; four daughters, Mrs. Kyle (Nancy) Sharum of Evansville; Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Campbell and Mrs. Bill (Rena) Heil, both of Carmi, and Mrs. Hal Bryant of Norris City; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchilden survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in the chapel of the Kittinger Funeral Home with Elder Elijah T. Doty officiating. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery.
