Funeral For Carmi Woman

Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home for Mrs. Helen Smiley, conducted by the Rev. Andy Holdman.

Music was by Mark Browning and his daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Glenda) Hankins, and casketbearers were Carl Maurer, Raymond Maurer, Ernest Maurer, Bill Heil, Oscar Baker and Henry Campbell.

Burial was in Maple Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Smiley, 70, a resident at Wilmar Restorium for several years, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Saturday in Carmi Township Hospital, where she became a patient last Tuesday.

She was a native of Carmi, born July 27, 1901, daughter of Jacob and Katherine Ziegler Maurer, and was married to John Smiley, who preceded her in death.

Her only survivors are a sister, Mrs. Lillie Brady, Carmi, and nieces and nephews.
