“Molly” Gillihan Claimed By Death

Mrs. Mary Ann “Molly” Gillihan, 72, wife of Everett Gillihan, Route 1, Carmi, died at 3 a.m. today at her home after an illness of about two months.

Mrs. Gillihan, well-known throughout the county, had lived 18 years in the community northwest of Carmi. She was born in this county, May 29, 1883, the daughter of Jacob and Catherine Ziegler Maurer.

She attended the Carmi Pentecostal Church as long as her health permitted.

Surviving besides the husband, are a son, Jacob Gillihan of near Maunie; four daughters, Mrs. Kyle (Nancy) Sharum, Evansville, Indiana, Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Campbell and Mrs. William (Rena) Heil, both of Carmi, and Mrs. Hal (Myrtle) Bryant, Norris City; four brothers, John, Jacob, Harry and Reuben Maurer, all of near Carmi; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Bradley, Mrs. Katie Little and Mrs. Helen Smiley, all of Carmi; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Kittinger Funeral Home chapel, with Elder Elijah T. Doty and the Rev. Harold Carter officiating. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery.

The body will remain at the funeral home until the funeral hour.
