Reuben Maurer Taken By Death

Reuben Maurer, Dohuty Street, Carmi, died Saturday at the Grayville Nursing Home at 12:05 p.m. He had spent most of his life in and around Carmi and farmed most of this time. He was 74 years old and had never married. He had been cared for in the Grayville Nursing Home for about a year.

He was born in White County March 17, 1888 the son of Jacob and Katherine Ziegler Maurer.

Survivors include a brother, Harry Maurer of Carmi; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Smiley and Mrs. Lille Brady, both of Carmi, and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, John and Jacob and two sisters, Mollie Gillihan and Katie Little, preceded him in death.

The funeral was held this afternoon in the Kittinger chapel at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. C. R. Bitzer officiating. Burial was in Maple Ridge.
