Woman's Husband Died On Day Of Mother's Funeral

In a most unfortunate coincidence Mrs. Pearl Morris lost her husband by death at 4:30 this morning and today the funeral of her mother, Mrs. Harry E. Maurer, is being held. Mrs. Maurer, 72, died Monday night.

William H. (Curly) Morris died in the Carmi Township Hospital after a siege of illness over the past three years. He was a painter by trade and had lived all of his life in Carmi until 11 years ago when he moved to a farm home on Route 1, Carmi. He was 58 years old.

Mr. Morris was born on February 27, 1901, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Morris.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Rosemary) Tally of Route 1, Carmi; mother, Mrs. Etta Logan, Carmi; step-grandmother, Mrs. W. D. Barton, Carmi; two half-sisters, Mrs. Marty Westfall, Route 1, Carmi and Mrs. Catherine Gosneil, Andrews, Texas; a half-brother, Ray Bowen of Richmond, Indiana; two step-daughters, Mrs. Gladys Campbell of Enfield and Mrs. Georgia Page of Decatur; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

The body is at the Kittinger Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the chapel of the Kittinger Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Cochran officiating. Interment will be in Maple Ridge cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home after 10:00am Thursday.
