Oatha Felty Dies Today In Hospital
Mrs. Oatha Felty, 80, widow of Orlando Felty, passed away at 4:20 a.m. today in St. John's Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
She had been in the hospital since March 17 when she was severely burned at her home, 501 North Sixth Street, after her clothing caught fire from a space heater.
Mrs. Felty was born July 8, 1892 in White County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Nibbling, and had spent most of her life in Carmi.
She had been employed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McCallister over 50 years. The golden anniversary was observed November 15, 1972, at which time the McCallisters presented her a specially made pin.
Mrs. Felty moved to Carmi in 1922 from Trumbull. Her husband preceded her in death in 1959.
Surviving are a son, Wesley, Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Lena Brashier, Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. Lorraine Hudson, Poway, Calif.; a brother, Alex Nibbling, and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Carter and Mrs. Elva Wiley, all of Carmi; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Pearl Nibbling and Mrs. Elva Nibbling, both of Carmi; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements for services are pending at the Donald Campbell Funeral Home.
