Wed In Local Church
Miss Marjorie King, daughter of Mrs. Mary King, and James O. Sturm, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. William R. Sturm, exchanged their marriage vows Sunday afternoon at four o'clock at the First Baptist Church.
The Rev. C. H. Morris read the ceremony in the presence of members of the immediate families of the bride and groom and a few close friends. A reception was held at the home of the bride's mother following the service.
The bride was attended by Miss Alice Upton as maid of honor and Mrs. Charles Yeager of Fayetteville, N.C., the groom's sister. An uncle of the groom, Paul Dean, was best man and Herbert York as a groomsman.
Before the ceremony Miss Frieda Harper played “I Love You Truly” and “Oh, Promise Me” at the organ.
The bride was escorted to the altar and given in marriage by Steiner Clark of Barnhill, a relative.
The wedding dress was of blue satin and was worn with white accessories. The bridal corsage was of white roses. The maid of honor was attired in black crepe and Mrs. Yeager chose a pink crepe for the wedding. These ladies had corsages of white roses.
Mrs. Sturm was graduated from the Carmi Township High School and is a Sophomore at Southern Illinois University. She plans to resume her studies this Fall. Mr. Sturm is a Senior at the Carmi Township High School and is employed at the Kroger Baking Company.
