A disastrous fight, which occurred last Sunday night near the Newman school house, between two boys, both about twelve years of age, resulted in the death of one on Monday. We have ascertained the following: It seems that before church the boys, Johnnie Smith, and — Sturm, son of Clinton Sturm, had some slight difficulty. When the meeting dismissed, some of the larger boys began to again stir up the quarrel, whereupon the Smith boy hit Sturm, who, not wishing to fight, ran away, but was followed by Smith. Seeing that he would be compelled to defend himself, Sturm picked up a piece of rail, and when Smith came at him he struck Smith on the back, near the kidneys. The boy was prostrated by the blow, and died from the effects the following evening. No arrests have been made nor any legal action taken.
