Mrs. Maurer, 72, Taken By Death

Mrs. Harry E. (Belle) Maurer, 72, died at 7:15 Monday evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Morris, Route One, Carmi. She had been ill for almost a year and had been bedfast the past three weeks. Her home was also on Route One.

She was born in Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois on October 2, 1887, the daughter of Morgue and Lila Tucker. She was first married to William Winter, who died and in later life she was married to Elijah Anders, who also preceded her in death. In recent years she was married to Harry E. Maurer and they have lived for the past seven years near Carmi.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Morris of Carmi, Route One, and Mrs. Betty Morris, Maywood, California; three step-sons, Arthur Maurer of Carmi, Homer Maurer of East St. Louis and Herschel Maurer of Gary, Indiana; a brother, Bill Tucker of Cave-In- Rock; two grandchildren, Gladys Campbell of Enfield and Georgia Page of Decatur, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Kittinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leon Cochran officiating. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery.
