Mrs. Jacob Maurer Dies After Lingering Illness
Funeral Services For Respected Lady
Held Thursday Afternoon At
Evangelical Church
Mrs. Jacob Maurer passed away Tuesday, January 1st, on the farm near Carmi where she was born. During the cyclone of 1925, Mrs. Maurer was injured and her home destroyed, and she never fully recovered. For the past six weeks she had been in a helpless condition, due to a stroke.
Mrs. Maurer was very devoted to her family, having their interests first in her heart always. The last one and one-half years had been difficult for her because of the death of her husband, who was a great help to her in her affliction.
Katherine Margaret Maurer was born October 3, 1857, and died January 1, 1935, at the age of 77 years, two months and 28 days. She was the daughter of George and Katherine Gomer Ziegler.
She was married on October 18, 1878, to Jacob Maurer. To them were born 12 children, eight of whom are still living, namely, John, Jake, Harry, Reuben, Mollie Gillihan, Lillie Dodson, Katie and Helen. She also leaves 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Maurer joined the Immanuel Evangelical Church in her early youth and continued her membership there until her death, however, for the past ten years she had not been able to attend regularly on account of ill health.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Evangelical Church, Rev. W. E. Bush officiating. Burial was in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers and granddaughters were in charge of the flowers.
W. R. Archer was in charge of funeral arrangements.
